Dog-Friendly Dining on the Coastside: Where to Eat with Your Pup

If you're lucky enough to call the Coastside home—or just visiting for a weekend getaway—chances are your four-legged friend is right there with you. From windswept beaches to scenic trails, there’s no shortage of outdoor fun here. But when it comes to grabbing a bite, not all restaurants roll out the welcome mat for our canine companions.

At Ocean Element Real Estate, we’re proud to live and work on the Coastside, and we know firsthand how important it is to find places where both you and your dog feel at home. So we’ve rounded up some of our favorite dog-friendly restaurants across Half Moon Bay, El Granada, Montara, and Moss Beach—where the food is fantastic, the patios are open, and your pup is welcome to join you.

🐾 Old Princeton Landing (OPL) – Princeton-by-the-Sea

📍 460 Capistrano Rd, Half Moon Bay
Visit OPL

Locals just call it OPL, and it’s one of the most laid-back, dog-welcoming spots on the Coastside. Their outdoor patio is perfect for pups and offers full access to the Silver Star Grill, serving up juicy burgers, fresh poke bowls, crispy fries, and other casual favorites. Add in live music, cold beer, and coastal breezes, and you’ve got a winning combo for you and your four-legged friend.

Water bowls are always on hand, and there’s plenty of space to stretch out after a beach walk or harbor stroll.

🐾 The Barn – Half Moon Bay

📍 3068 Cabrillo Hwy N, Half Moon Bay
Visit The Barn

The outdoor patio and enclosed beer garden at The Barn are both dog-friendly, making it one of the most relaxed and welcoming spots for locals and visitors alike. Grab a Hot Farmer Burger, a side of their iconic Mac Attack, and wash it down with a house-made olallieberry lemonade while your pup stretches out on the turf beside you.

Pups are welcome in both outdoor spaces, and the staff always makes them feel like part of the party.

🐾 San Benito House Cantina & Deli – Downtown Half Moon Bay

📍 356 Main St, Half Moon Bay
Visit San Benito House

With a dog-friendly courtyard tucked behind the historic San Benito House, this local favorite is ideal for a casual bite with your pup. Choose between the deli—famous for their turkey avocado sandwich—or the cantina, where you’ll find tacos, cocktails, and picnic-style seating under the trees.

The shady garden is a peaceful spot for pups and people alike, right in the heart of downtown.

🐾 Jettywave Distillery – Half Moon Bay

📍 155 Broadway, Half Moon Bay
Visit Jettywave

Just steps from Pillar Point Harbor, Jettywave Distillery offers a gorgeous, dog-friendly outdoor setting with picnic tables, fire pits, and coastal cocktails. Their food program, Gibraltar Gems, serves up globally inspired dishes with local flair. Dogs are welcome in the garden area and often greeted with a smile—and a water bowl.

It’s the kind of place where no one blinks if your pup is wearing a bandana—and yes, they’ll bring out a water bowl.

🐾 Half Moon Bay Brewing Company – Pillar Point Harbor

📍 390 Capistrano Rd, Half Moon Bay
Visit HMB Brewing Co.

A longtime favorite for locals and visitors alike, Half Moon Bay Brewing Co. offers one of the best dog-friendly patios on the Coastside. With views of the harbor, heat lamps, and plenty of room, it’s a perfect post-walk stop. Enjoy seafood classics, burgers, and local craft beer while your pup soaks up the salty breeze.

They even offer dog-friendly menu items during special events.

🐾 Mezza Luna Café – Princeton-by-the-Sea

📍 459 Prospect Way, Half Moon Bay
Visit Mezza Luna

This cozy Italian eatery offers dog-friendly patio dining with a calm, coastal ambiance. It’s just steps from the harbor and perfect for a casual lunch or romantic dinner with your dog at your feet. The cioppino and pasta specials are local favorites.

🐾 La Costanera – Montara

📍 8150 Cabrillo Hwy, Montara
Visit La Costanera

This upscale Peruvian spot sits on a cliffside with breathtaking ocean views—and a dog-friendly patio where pups are welcome to enjoy the scenery with you. The menu features fresh ceviche, wood-fired dishes, and beautifully crafted cocktails.

Come for the views, stay for the dog-friendly hospitality and dreamy sunsets.

🐾 Moss Beach Distillery – Moss Beach

📍 140 Beach Way, Moss Beach
Visit Moss Beach Distillery

Famous for its history and haunted folklore, Moss Beach Distillery also boasts one of the most accommodating dog-friendly patios on the Coast. Fire pits, ocean views, and even a “Doggie Menu” make this a must-visit for pet lovers. The heated patio is perfect year-round.

Order a burger for yourself—and maybe a little something for your furry best friend too.
